Covid-19: Latest figures for Beds, Herts & Bucks, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire

There have been more than 1.4 million confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK and almost 53,000 people have died, government figures show.

However, these figures include only people who have died within 28 days of testing positive for coronavirus and other measures suggest the number of deaths is higher.

England is in a month-long national lockdown until 2 December.

Luton's new case rate of 287 per 100,000 people is the highest in the East of England and above the England-wide average.

The rates in Northampton and East Northamptonshire have fallen, but have risen in all other districts in Northamptonshire.

Lucy Wightman, director of public health for the county, said the falls in the two districts was "encouraging".

"It is early days, but we are starting to see the impact of the lockdown," she said.

Both Cambridge and Peterborough have a rate of more than 200 cases per 100,000 people.

Below is a table showing the rate of cases per 100,000 people by council district in the week to 15 November, and the figure at the same point a week ago.

The table below shows how many people have died from coronavirus in Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk since the start of the pandemic.
